Vocal Delivery Lessons From This Perfect Recitation of a Famous Poem

vocal delivery

We can learn so much about vocal delivery from listening to the masters at work. Here is one fantastic example: James Earl Jones reading Edgar Allen Poe’s classic, “The Raven”.

Today, a little something to get you into the Halloween mood…

Have a listen to this wonderfully read version of Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Raven”.

It’s read by James Earl Jones.

Jones possessed a wonderfully distinctive and powerful voice, and his recitation of “The Raven” was a wonderful vocal delivery of a great piece of poetry.

So sit back, relax and listen (and prepared to be scared!)

“The Raven”

by Edgar Allen Poe

“Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore –
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door –
“‘Tis some visitor,” I muttered, “tapping at my chamber door –
Only this and nothing more.”

This is one of my favorite poems – what does that say about me???
